Notes and Stuff )
affablyevil: (team free will)
What the hell is all this about Dean!girls versus Sam!girls versus Cas!girls? I mean, they mentioned it in The Monster at the End of This Book but seriously? Seriously? We have to do this? It's not enough to have ship wars we have partition fandom further by having character wars? Screw that!

I DECLARE FOR TEAM GABRIEL. He refuses to choose sides when it comes to teams he loves equally. (Though I do have faith that he's gonna come through for me and pick my team ♥)

On a less facetious note, whatever you do, however you watch a television it's your choice and your life etc. But I personally can't see how that would be fun because you're perpetually getting defensive or angry on a character's behalf or crowing against a character you don't like and it's just. Is it such a crime to love and sympathize with everyone? Because in my experience only loving one half (or one third) of a team is much more frustrating and disappointing.

I am much much more for the team dynamic. Of them kicking ass together and sacrificing themselves for each other and saving each other and yelling at each other when they're wrong or they left their stinky socks in the sink. I could write odes and odes about this.

short tl;drs about how awesome everyone is )

These guys, even though they're fictional, make me believe in heroes. And I'm supposed to just pick one? Yeah no, I don't think so. I don't want to. They are all also extremely good-looking. This isn't even touching the (somewhat) more minor but nevertheless insanely great characters that I want to hang out with all the time. Or the antagonists that terrify me but have fantastic panache. So drawing all these lines in the sand is insane and weird to me when there's plenty of room for everything. I just can't get behind the mentality. Gosh. I ♥ everyone.

Dear fandom, I don't think 'enochian' means what you think it means )

I'm really digging epic apocalyptic awesome that is this show. All the other shows have been "We must stop the apocalypse!" while this show is all "No, we are doing the apocalypse and it's going to be awesome even if we have no money after paying our stars we have a budget. But I must totally commend the writers and crew for how much is happening offscreen but still feeling reasonable. In some ways, I think this season is going to be a lot like Cloverfield — minus of course the ridiculously expensive stunts, cgi-work, set work, and the nausea-inducing unsteady camerawork.

In some ways I prefer this method of storytelling, because it forces the writers to be more clever and character-focused, only throwing in side-details when they can. That being said, everyone who's ever complained about the effects in this show can go directly to hell — do not pass go do not pick up your brother's soul — because the set work, the makeup work, and yes, the cgi work continues to dress to impress considering their budget.

Even as a Buffy fan, most of the "demons" in that universe I had a heard time taking seriously as demons — they could've been aliens with strange skin issues going for drinks in Sunnydale instead of Tatooine's cantina — with one big notable exception, though she didn't show up until nearly the end. Whereas Supernatural constantly creates and relieves tension in a narratively feasible way, while linking the history of the show so that every new episode remains relevant.

But whatever, people'll be hatin'.

Some 5x02 thoughts )

In other news, Misha Collins keeps making Twitter explode with his 23k bulls in the china shop. I am amused that the new terms of service seem to stem directly from this corner of fandom, ha.

The fanfic, in its complete text:

Sam shivered as he leaned against the splintered wooden wall of the barn. His shoulder ached from the fight with the demon-spawn Mar-Delok and his clothes were soaked from the cold rain which fell outside. He let the knife fall into the dust and turned to his brother.

Dean was shaken up. His chest was heaving with exertion and his shredded shirt was barely clinging to his muscular frame. Sam could see he was hurt.

"Hey. Are you ok?" Sam stepped closer and put his arms around Dean. "We're going to get out of this, they can't keep us here long."

The brothers huddled together in the dark as the sound of the rain drumming on the roof eased their fears of pursuit. Despite the cold outside and the demons who, even now, must be approaching, the warmth of their embrace comforted them.

And then Sam caressed Dean's clavicle.

"This is wrong," said Dean.

"Then I don't want to be right." replied Sam, in a husky voice.

A) SERA GAMBLE COPIED AND PASTED IT FROM HER WIPS FOLDER.
B) THE WRITERS SAT DOWN AND WROTE IT AS A GROUP.
C) FANGIRLS HAVE INFILTRATED VIA THE SET PRODUCTION TEAM.

I can't figure out which option is the most awesome/horrifying.

5x01 spoilers )

I had more thoughts about 5x01, but they dissolved into flailing and freaking out and yelling "SAAAAM!"

I need to get my ass off twitter before I spoil myself.

The fangirls are coming to Isengard! P Diddy you are hilarious. It's for a tv show, dude.

However, there's a chance that my 1:20pm class is getting switched to 11:40, which means that I might have an opening to sneak away and watch it at work...

To reiterate:

While sitting around and thinking about Show (as usual) I had the stunning realization that since Chuck is actually just writing stuff that he sees in the tv of his head, he is, in fact, writing fanfic. Accidentally RPF, canonical fanfic, but "fanfic" in principle none the less. Oh no this is getting too meta: does that mean that (unlicensed) biographies are a form of RPF too? Is my crazy getting out of control?

I'm not sure, it made sense in my brain.

New preview scene for S5. But kind of unreleased/skeezy since it's on a cam. So I guess, spoilers? D:

Eunice from She's the Man — I thought her overexcitable fangirling was familiar. Hilarious intentional reversal with the crazy. Anyway, all I could think of? "Oh no! You cut her hair! I wanted her to have long hair like classic Gabby!"

Because I swear to God, Season 5 is going to be Xena Season 6. Lucifer included — though probably without Dean trying to talk Lucifer into becoming king of hell, since that would be awkward and has already uh, happened..

...Can we have an Old Ares Had a Farm equivalent for Castiel? Pretty please? Because that would be so beyond amazing I would joyvomit all over myself. Zack can be Gaskar.

Promo #3.

I can't deal with this. I don't even know.

I need to stop watching things that are fucking with my mind.
